Recommended Books

There are so many wonderful books available today to motivate, inspire and guide women to a purposeful and healthier quality of living.  Each one of you will find your own reading preferences for empowerment. These tools have served me personally and in my life’s work.

The reason I share these is that sometimes we seek something more fulfilling in our lives and yet cannot put a finger on the “what.”  Reading may be a stimulus for that clarity and a confirmation that you are not the first person to seek life.  The right books(s) will find you.

Unstoppable
45 Powerful Stories of Perseverance and Triumph from People Just Like You

By Cynthia Kersey
Patricia:  I use the content of this book often for my own motivation and in my speaking and coaching to motivate others to keep on keeping on.
Your Best Life Now
7 Steps to Living At Your Full Potential
By Joel Osteen

Patricia:  What I like about the book is that it takes a whole approach to living, beginning with you.
The Purpose of Your Life
Finding Your Place in the World Using Synchronicity, Intuition, and Uncommon Sense
By Carol Adrienne
Patricia:  I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Carol when she came to Nashville, TN for a book signing at a local bookstore.  She intrigued me with her simplistic yet profound look at life through her own living. I found that the book spoke to so many of my own feelings and life experiences.
By Louise L. Hay

Patricia:  I have used this book for years to help me pay attention to my own body’s messages about the way I am living my life.  It is a resource and reference to assist in refocusing me when I get caught up in the flip-flop world of living habit and not purpose.
Focusing on What Matters Most
By Debra Harris

The book has packing appeal.  It is easily carried in a briefcase or purse and is a quick picker-upper when we feel low on perseverance energy.
The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership
Follow Them and People Will Follow You
By John C. Maxwell
Patricia:  I have used the principles of leadership from this book in my executive and leadership coaching and in working with organizations building stronger individual and team leaders.  John Maxwell has this magic about integrating skill and personal character.  The book is a great for all human beings, not just corporate leaders.  Our world needs YOU to be a leader in your own life.
The Purpose Driven Life
What on earth am I here for?
By Rick Warren
Patricia:  A key part of this book for me is that we will allow ourselves to create our life around problems, deadlines, society biases, guilt, circumstances and other unimportant things in the world unless we are grounded in principles and a clear life purpose.
A Century Of Women
The Most Influential Events In Twentieth-Century Women’s History
By Deborah G. Felder
Patricia:  It was a great overview of the history of women impacting the 20th-century.  I used the book as my major resource for a speech celebrating women’s contributions in the past 100 years.  It brings perspective and expectation to our roles as women maturing in the next 100 years.  What will you contribute?
What’s in an Age
Who Did What When, From Ages 1-100
By Andrew Postman
Patricia:  I love this little book.  It is a collection of brief stories and comments about accomplishments by people from ages 1 to 100. It is a reminder that it is never too early or too late to achieve.  Enjoy!
